Welcome On the Suffolk coast between the River Orwell and the River Deben, and with a population of 40,000, the attractive seaside resort of Felixstowe has long been known as the Suntrap of the East Coast. In recent years, Felixstowe Dock has grown enormously and is now the largest container port in the UK. Any church is shaped in part by its history and geography, and Felixstowe's Bethesda Baptist Church is no exception. Our members have met on the present site in Cavendish Road since 1916, and have always stood firmly as a Bible-based church that serves the local community at the west end of the town, although members are drawn from a much wider area.
The good news about Jesus shapes all our activities as we try to build one another up in the Christian faith, to reach out to others with the love and message of Jesus and to send out people equipped to serve in various places in this country and overseas.
Bethesda Church has no denominational ties, but has always enjoyed interaction with other local churches that are also committed to the truth of God's word, the Bible. We have recently become members of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), strengthening our links with other independent churches that have the same commitment to the Bible and to proclaiming God's good news. We are in the process of planning improved facilites in our building and have just finished the first phase. We want to provide a building that will be more attractive and better suited to our work of serving people in this locality.
